Saltwater Eels
Eels are somewhat ominous looking snake-like creatures that inhabit the oceans. They have sharp teeth which can leave a nasty bite and even lead to infection. Divers often need to be wary of these creatures as they can be a danger to divers. They often hide in corals and holes or caves.

The eel breathes in a surprising way, they have to open their jaws to let water flow through the gills so that they can breathe. You will often find them hiding with just the head protruding and the mouth slowly opening and closing so that the eel can breathe.

Marine eels can grow quite large, yet some species are also fairly small in size. Some have multicolored, striped or spotted bodies and they can be quite beautiful in appearance.

The Japanese dragon eel is considered one of the most beautiful and exotic species of eel.
